This educational seminar for health professionals will present the very latest research on premium quality Brazilian green propolis from Baccharis dracunculifolia, together with scientific and practical clinical evidence for its use in Brazil and Japan, as nutritional support to orthodox treatments or as part of biological therapies in several clinical conditions such as cancer (multiple action mechanisms including NFKB, AKT, BCL2 and P53), inflammation, immunological diseases, microbial infection, and oxidative stress.

Prof Paulino holds a PhD in Pharmacology (Medicinal Plants and Natural Products) from the Federal University of Santa Catarina UFSC Brazil in collaboration with Ludwig Maximilian Universität in München, LMU Germany. He is a full professor at UNIBAVE and has published several papers focused on propolis and apitherapy having presented in more than 120 symposia and conferences around the world. His main interests are the mechanisms of action of propolis, the intracellular signalling in its anti-inflammatory and anticancer effects. During the seminar, Prof Paulino will focus on properties from Baccharis dracunculifolia green propolis from Minas Gerais Brazil, including antitumoral (cytotoxic, anti-proliferative and antimetastasic), analgesic and anti-inflammatory, immune-modulator, antioxidant, antimicrobial and healing. He will also indicate practical clinical implications from his propolis research on humans.
Dr Ellen Silveira MD, PhD
Dr Silveira holds an MD from the Federal University of Minas Gerais and a PhD in Geriatric Medicine from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. She is a gerontologist and associated researcher at the Hospital Santa Casa de Misericórdia (cardiology and chronic-degenerative diseases R&D group), Belo Horizonte, MG Brazil. She specialises in early detection and natural treatment of degenerative diseases, with a strong interest in nutrition, medical thermography, energy medicine, as well as in integrative medicine. Dr Silveira will outline case reports on the use of propolis in the management of various conditions as well as the use of Baccharis propolis with cancer patients.
Dr Gerson Machado DIC PhD
Dr Gerson Machado has had senior positions with various communications, bionanotechnology and technology consulting companies and has lectured in five continents. He is a director of MBD in Brazil and non-executive director of various companies. His current interests include nutraceuticals, natural products, propotherapy, energy medicine, nanotechnology, and the creation and maintenance of sustainable public health. Dr Machado holds a PhD in electrical and electronic (biomedical) engineering from Imperial College London. Dr Machado will focus on consistency in quality and production innovations for Baccharis propolis including a review of literature and clinical trends as well as opportunities for clinics, hospitals, doctors, national health systems and insurance organisations.
